About Kloop

Kloop web portal was launched in June 2007, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. This is the news report service, where everything is written by young people aged 14 to 22, and, what is more important, this is one of the first virtual communities in the country that includes a WordPress based blogs service.

Journalism segment

Every news report on Kloop is written by young people who took part in the journalism workshops organized every four months by Bishkek-based Kloop Media Foundation and Children’s Media Centre. Still, according to the website founders, ‘anyone can join the news team without attending the workshops and even despite the age’.

Kloop does not claim to be a professional news service, but correspondents, when writing the reports, are expected to follow these rules:

  • Be balanced.
  • Use sources.
  • Be adequate.

Blogs segment

Kloop has become one of the first web services in Kyrgyzstan, where every user can create an own space in the Internet by registering a blog and posting to it.

Kloop administration does not censor the blogs anyhow. According to the official website rules, the only case when the administration can delete or filter a post is when pornographic images are posted. In any other cases, Kloop can close the blog only under the official order of the local authorities.
